We are situated alongside a quiet lane where there is a parking bay for two cars. A five barred gate opens onto a small grassed area in front of the property and extends round to steps leading up to the decked terrace that overlooks our orchard and is provided with garden furniture.
An additional play area is available along thee lane. An aluminium framed glass door leads into the tiled hallway from which the wooden stairs lead up to the bright and light open plan living room with polished oak floor, high pitched ceiling with exposed "A" frames, many low windows and a huge glazed end wall. The room falls naturally into different zones with two seating areas comfortably furnished with sofas, chairs, an LCD flat screen TV with Sky Freesat package, DVD and stereo unit with CD/tape and record player.
The superbly modern built-in kitchen area has black granite work surfaces, electric glass induction hob, eye level microwave and electric oven, large integral fridge, freezer, washer/dryer and dishwasher. The dining table seats eight and French doors open to the decked area outside.
On the ground floor are carpeted bedrooms, two double rooms with 5ft beds and a twin room with 3ft beds. There are no windows in the twin room but it is well lit, having an obscured glass door that leads onto a terracotta-tiled hallway that is bathed with natural light.
There is a superb family bathroom with bath, basin and WC and a further separate shower room with corner shower, basin and WC
Electricity, heating, travel cot, high chair, towels, duvets and bed linen are included in the price. However we do not provide beach towels or cot linen (mums and babies prefer their own).
Heating is oil fired, under-floor on the first floor with radiators in the bedrooms and bathrooms.
Although there is no telephone, the mobile reception is good.
The barn is always cleaned thoroughly and to a high standard on the day of changeover. Hopefully you will have great holiday with us and it would be very much appreciated if, on the day of departure, you could leave Dower Barn clean and tidy.
Many thanks to the majority of guests who have done just this.
Saturday is our changeover day with the possible exception of low/mid season short and weekend breaks.
The barn will be ready for you from 2.00 pm onwards on the day of arrival and one of us will be there to greet you, show you around, hand over the keys and leave you to enjoy your welcome package of tea, cake and a bottle of wine for later (or indeed sooner if the journey has been long and stressful!).
I know how difficult it is to estimate a time of arrival in the West Country, particularly during high season, but it would be great if you could give me a ring a couple of days before your arrival just to outline your plans.
As you will appreciate, there is much work to be done on the changeover day and so we request that you vacate the barn by 10.00 am on the day of departure.
We are delighted to say that Teignbridge District Council operates an excellent (but unique) recycling scheme and we really hope that we rely on your cooperation to dispose of your rubbish as requested. Don't worry because hopefully we have made this as straightforward as possible for you but I apologise for the instructions in advance. Once again, thanks to our guests who have been so assiduous in this task.
